Daimler Ferret Mark 2/4
This Ferret was built in 1958 from a design originally introduced in 1949. The vehicle weighs 4 tons and has a crew of 2, driver and commander. A total number of 4409 Ferrets were built from 1952 to 1971.
It is a mark 2/4 fitted with a rotating turret, which houses a Browning .30 (Replica) machine gun. Six smoke dischargers were also fitted to the front of the vehicle. The engine is a Rolls Royce B60, 6 cylinder, 4.2 – litre unit and the vehicle has five forward and five reverse gears. It will do 50 mph in either direction and averages 9 mpg on-road and 4 mpg off-road.
This example was with the 3rd Royal Tank Regiment and saw service in Aden, Cyprus and Northern Ireland.
This Ferret was restored in 2013 (some pictures available), the paint is a bit faded now and could do with some refresh.
Working Clansman VRC352, can add a working PRC351 if required.
